Top Quark Mass Measurements at Cdf
نویسنده
چکیده
The mass of the top quark Mtop is interesting both as a fundamental parameter of the standard model and as an important input to precision electroweak tests. The Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) has a robust program of top quark mass analyses, including the most precise single measurement, Mtop = 173.4 ± 2.8 GeV/c 2 , using 680 pb −1 of p¯ p collision data. A combination of current results from CDF gives Mtop = 172.0 ± 2.7 GeV/c 2 , surpassing the stated goal of 3 GeV/c 2 precision using 2 fb −1 of data. Finally, a combination with current D0 results gives a world average top quark mass of 172.5 ± 2.3 GeV/c 2 .

We review the measurements of the top quark mass by the CDF and DØ collaborations using Run I data in excess of 100 pb−1. The DØ collaboration [1] has recently updated its measurement of the top quark mass in the lepton + jets channel. The world average of the top quark mass from the CDF [2] and DØ measurements in the lepton + jets channel now stands at 175.6 ± 5.5 GeV/c2.

The most recent results on top quark physics at CDF are reported. Measurements of cross-section and mass are presented, and the status of single top quark production searches are discussed. The results obtained from probing various top quark properties are also presented.
متن کاملMeasurements of Top Quark Properties at Cdf
The top quark with its mass of about 172 GeV/c is the most massive fundamental particle observed by experiment. In this talk we highlight the most recent measurements of several top quark properties performed with the CDF detector based on data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities up to 1 fb. These results include a search for top quark pair production via new massive resonances, me...
متن کاملCombination of CDF and DØ Results on the Mass of the Top Quark The Tevatron Electroweak Working Group 1 for the CDF and DØ Collaborations
We summarize the top-quark mass measurements from the CDF and DØ experiments at Fermilab. We combine published Run-I (1992-1996) measurements with the most recent preliminary Run-II (2001-present) measurements using up to 750 pb −1 of data. Taking correlated uncertainties properly into account the resulting preliminary world average mass of the top quark is M t = 172.5 ± 1.3(stat) ± 1.9(syst) G...
